Realising a solar installation for seven primary schools, allowing them to teach IT.
Having access to electricity is by no means a given in Zimbabwe. Many of its rural areas are not connected to the power grid, which in itself is unreliable. Electricity is a necessity for (primary) schools in order to offer IT education, which the law requires of schools. Solar energy is an obvious and suitable solution, but unfortunately, many schools lack the funds to purchase and install a solar installation.
Mpilo Foundationd would like to realise a solar installation for seven primary schools: Maraposa, Semukheleni, Zamanyoni, Mahlotova, Mathonisa, Dundubala and Sibangani. This benefits more than 1800 children. Additionally, having electric lights allows for adult education in the evenings to promote literacy.
