Dundubala Primary School

Dundubala primary school is 60 km north of Bulawayo, close to the A8 (Bulawayo-Victoria Falls Road). The school has 250 students and no electricity. The principal, Mrs. Merriam Zidla, explains that the law prescribes education in the field of ICT. Electricity during the day is then a condition. Adult education in the evenings is a wish of the adults in the community and also of the teaching staff.

Sustainable electricity for a school without electricity. Electricity in 4 classrooms, an office and the 6-room cottage for the teaching staff. Power for light for adult education in the evening, for a laptop, for compulsory IT education, for charging mobile phones and for a small fridge. The expected results: A solar installation that covers the basic electricity needs. The ability to meet the obligation to provide IT education. Adult education can take place in the evening because there is light. In addition to education, the light in the evening offers the community the opportunity to meet on a joint development trajectory. In accordance with the basic principles of the Mpilo Foundation, the projects are visited annually, for a maximum period of 5 years.
